Toiles usually have interesting stories to tell, and the good ones reward your thoughtful examination with pleasant sequential revelations of activities frequently enjoyed in the 17th and 18th centuries.

|
Toiles also have enriching characters in action in their scenes. One of my favorites is the man rolling the park lawn in our Toile "Worcester Park." And I have two favorite participants in the activities of fishing and flower planting in the "Mercredi" Toile.

A Toile solves the problem Brunelleschi worked out in Florence about 1400, that is, the achievement of perspective or the illusion of depth on a flat surface. Toiles add this quality to a room significantly giving the appearance of depth. Thus avoiding the flatness so evident in so many rooms and designs.

A Toile adds these desirable qualities to any room in which it is used.
